The Eye of the Tiger

Countless people know the infamous song The Eye of the Tiger. I myself have known it for what seems like forever. A song by Survivor released in 1982, it rapidly became famous, and even now we can see its influence in other artists music. In particular, Katy Perry's song Roar. Recently released, it has already made it into the #2 spot on the Billboard's Top 100 Hot Songs list. I personally love it. It's super catchy. It also has similarities to the classic song by Survivor.

The chorus of The Eye of the Tiger:
"It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Rising up to the challenge of our rival

And he's watching us all with the eye of the tiger"





Katy Perry's Roar:
 "I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire

Lyrically, the two songs are similar, but what I love most about them is the different styles of music they both are. The Eye of the Tiger, a rock song, has a great beat and features awesome instrumentals. Roar is a fun, pop song, that gets caught in your head! I like how two songs with completely different styles both can feel motivational, and get you pumped! Awesome songs! Listen to them if you have a chance!
